To me, making art is the adult manifestation of the very visceral and genuine excitement of running home from school to play with my Barbies, alone. It is play and it is a nebulous filtration system, respectively. I sometimes will make a cameo in my work, A reversed Hitchcock, who was horny for young blondes and wanted to be in close proximity to them. There lies a perverseness in the desire for proximity to the fantasy, not the actual fantasy itself. 
The human imagination lives in a world of proximities, for even in our minds eye we can't fully trespass the lines of the social contracts we have laid out for ourselves: just Google 'step sister braces' and you'll know what I mean. 
In the 1975 David Sylvester interviews, Francis Bacon says “I'm just trying to make images as accurately off my nervous system as I can. I don't even know what half of them mean. I'm not saying anything profound”. I'd like to argue for a Baconesque, radical realism regulated by my nervous system, rather than depiction. I have no interest in finding meaning, or making moral or ideological judgment, only accurate expressions of happenstantial events and phenomena, devoid of goodness or badness, its value or relevance is not for me to decide. It is either sophisticated comparative literature or it is taking a shit.
